One of the first things you will notice when coming up to this Kansas shouse is the entryway. The natural wood coloring of the beams supporting the covered patio. Not only does this add a great, a-frame style look to the front facade, it also acts as an accent to the rest of the house. This is a wonderful way to bring a little bit of style to the standard shop look. It also matches the fantastic natural wood of the front door.

While the front of this Kansas shouse has some great style choices, the rear is incredibly distinctive. With a bar and a large window that leads to the inside of the home, there is no shortage of great gathering places here. This bar looks right over the sink so you essentially have a full wet bar with the simple opening of a window.

The back porch is absolutely the main attraction of this Kansas shouse. We absolutely love the metal ceiling and the large, functional fan that has a windmill-type of look and really helps push the industrial style of the shouse in general. With a full dining table and a hot tub, it’s clear that this is one of the focal points of the home.

Living Area

The inside of this Kansas shouse is comfortable and inviting. Just like some of the best shop houses out there, you would have no idea that this home was built from a steel shell once you enter it. The polished concrete floor is a great touch, though, and it gives a little bit of a reference to the industrial roots of the building.

We love the vaulted ceiling of this Kansas shouse and the way the beams highlight the size. This is a great way to bring an element of height to the room and show off the amazing shape of the building. The contrasted trim of the beams is a great touch and we love how it works as an accent. If there is one thing this Kansas shouse does well, its contrast and accents and there are little touches of them all over the place.

One of the ways the interior designers of this Kansas shouse have taken advantage of the space is by artfully arranging the furniture in the open concept. This is an essential step for this type of floor plan and they have done a great job of delineating spaces without making them feel cramped or crowded. That is one of the most important things with an open concept.

Clearly the owners of this Kansas shouse are dog lovers. This is evidenced in their excellently equipped dog washing station and laundry room. This is yet another example of why building a custom home is a great choice for people who have specific interests. Being able to add things like this that make your life easier and more convenient really makes a project like this worth the time and effort.

The kitchen in this Kansas shouse is a fantastic, well designed space that brings the whole area together. The tracks that hold the window and allow it to be lifted up and out of the way are ingenious and also add a lot to the slightly industrial feel of the space. We love the kitchen island with a built in range and the industrial light fixtures that are a great reference to the shop origins of the building.

The bedrooms in this Kansas shouse are just as comfortable and interestingly appointed as the rest of the house. We love the carpets that take a little bit of edge off the sealed concrete and the lighting in each of the rooms is both comfortable and highly stylized.

The stonework in the bathrooms is another small detail that really brings a touch of amazing style to the space. The shower room features a modern, art-deco style tub that is unlike anything we have seen before. There is also excellent tile work that brings the whole space together. The vanity with vessel sink and the light fixtures are perfectly suited to the rest of this Kansas shouse and make the bathrooms feel welcoming and warm as well as contemporary.
